THE WOMAN BEHIND THE NAME
Her artistry became
our anthem.
Fancy America was founded to honor Coti Collins — Miss Gay America 2011 — whose grace, mentorship, and unforgettable portrayal of Reba McEntire’s Fancy continues to define what it means to command a stage. A legend in the world of female impersonation, Coti Collins (David Lowman) left a long-lasting memory in the world of pageantry. Known for her saying of “Never let anyone determine your self worth“ and to never give up on your dreams. Coti shared her love of drag and pageantry with everyone she was around. Living her dream, her talents took her to share the stage with Reba McEntire during her 1996 Tour and to stages all over the country; competing and winning various titles. Most notable being as Miss Gay America 2011. Sadly, after decades of dedication to our community of drag, Coti Collins passed away and left a huge hole in the hearts of many. In memory and love for her, Miss Gay Fancy America was created in dedication to her and the song she was best known for.
